Comprehensive swimming pool water testing

Having us come out and test your water ‘onsite’ will enable us to access the pool, environment and equipment and provide additional information to help maintain a healthy and safe swimming experience for you, your family and friends.

  1. First we determine the volume of water in the pool. It is important for accuracy of adding chemicals. This is worked out by multiplying the length by the width and by the average depth.

  2. The pH level is important for the chlorine to work at optimum efficiency and for the water not to be too acidic (when the pH is low), which can cause skin irritation.

  3. Alkalinity helps stabilise the pH and it is a bit of a fine balancing act.

  4. Hardness helps keep the clarity of the water. For plaster pools, a higher hardness level is required to maintain the integrity of the plaster.

  5. Chlorine levels are required for sanitation. To kill bacteria and algae. The occasional shock dose is required depending on usage and a few other factors.

  6. Cynuric acid works a bit like sun block for chlorine, however if it is too high it can stop the chlorine from working entirely!

  7. Salt is only required for salt chlorinated pools to maintain optimum chlorine production according to the unit’s calibration.

We will travel to your pool and:
